  • Groundwater Development Short Course on the 4 May 2007. Hosted by the Groundwater Group, UWC. Groundwater Development involves a wide range of activities like borehole siting, drilling, borehole testing, designing and equipping and follow-up monitoring. The information generated from these activities is used in the improvement of groundwater development efficacy and sustainable utilization. This short course is designed for water professionals, engineers and students who aspire to understand the subject of groundwater development. The course is also aimed at borehole drilling companies who need to conform to drilling standards of the Department of Water Affairs and Forestry (DWAF). Five important topics are covered in this course:

    • Basic concepts of Groundwater Development
    • Borehole Siting and Geophysical Survey
    • Borehole Drilling Standards
    • Borehole Logging
    • Information Capturing (software provided)
These topics will cover all the diverse techniques and standards of groundwater development, data recording and capture.
