On completion of this module student will be able to:

  •  Skilled in the acquisition and analysis of remotely sensed data, especially digital satellite image data 
  •  Have a conceptual understanding of map construction
  •  Understanding the principles and analysis of rock deformation  
  •  Skills for the structural analysis of deformed rocks 
  •  Conceptual analysis of tectonic setting and rock mechanics

  •  Principles of satellite image interpretation
  •  Construction of base and geological maps
  •  Projection techniques and conventions
  •  Description and analysis of deformed rocks
  • Stereoscopic projection methods and techniques in structural analysis
  • Concepts of stress, translation, rotation and strain
  • Rock mechanics and tectonic setting
